Lift tables are used extensively in industrial operations where large pieces of machinery or material such as boxes, pallets, and bags need to be transported from one location to another. Lift tables are different from most types of ordinary industrial lifts because these devices have a wider surface area.
The mechanisms that are used to operate lift tables are essentially the same types that are used to operate industrial lifts. These are scissor lifts, rack and pinion lifts, and screw lifts, etc. Lift tables are differentiated among themselves on the basis of their workload capacity, their platform length, their width, and the height that it can travel to. These lift tables can be operated by the use of screw drives, foot pumping and ratcheting, pneumatic air cylinders and air motors, hydraulic cylinders and motors, and electrical motors.
A simple scissor lift table can move by mechanical means such as rotating a wheel, or by a foot pedal. This will move the lift table and the load on it from ground level to a certain height and back down again. These lifts are also available in automated versions which operate on electric motors and can be controlled by a simple switch. Hydraulic lifts have the benefit of an added safety feature to stop the lift from descending too quickly if the table happens to break. A velocity fuse can automatically determine the amount of torque on the hydraulics and will help to prevent the table from breaking. Pneumatic lifts are generally used when electricity isn’t readily available and where there is a constant forced-air supply.
In addition to their immense load bearing capabilities, lift tables have some other special features such as rotation, counterbalance, wheels and most importantly, safety rails. These rails prevent the load from falling off and provide a sturdy support to industrial personnel. Lift tables are designed make the lifting of objects a lot easier for workers, but you still have to load and unload the table. Lift tables can be dangerous so make sure that the table is big enough prevent the load from falling off of it and make sure that you don’t exceed the lift’s weight capacity.
